Fitzroy Island is an unspoilt tropical paradise of rainforest and beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Fitzroy Island is a National Park, discover spectacular walking trails, abundant marine life, and local wildlife.

Located 45 minutes from Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, Fitzroy Island is easily reached by regular ferry transfers on the air-conditioned Fitzroy Flyer.

Fitzroy Island is ideal for families, a visit with friends or a romantic gateway. Come for a day or stay overnight at our boutique resort.

Guests are advised that check-in time is from 2 pm and check-out is 10 am.

For guests arriving early or departing later, the resort offers bag storage, changing rooms with lockers, showers and pool towels.

Due to the location of the island, Wi-Fi access can be unpredictable.

Consists of an Island Suite and a Resort Studio Room adjoining with a shared entrance, lounge area and balcony.

Beach Cabin

Boasting beautiful views across Welcome Bay, the Beach Cabin offers a queen bedroom and a separate twin bedroom. Be quick they book out fast!

Butterfly Bungalows

Set amongst the rainforest and moments from the beach, our Butterfly Bungalows are the perfect secluded island hideaway option for couples, families or groups of friends.

Camping on the Island

Fitzroy Island’s camp ground provides generously spaced camp sites just 20 meters from the coral beach. 250 meters away is Fitzroy Island Resort offering tantalizing refreshments or Foxy’s Bar and Cafe.

The campground includes showers, toilets, and BBQ facilities, as well as picnic tables.

This is the best Island on the GBR that caters for all activities; slow or physical paced. Service excellence and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Foxy’s Bar is a must and Nudey Beach deserves its #1 rating! A must visit destination.

Thankyou Fitzroy Island Resort Staff and Queensland National Parks for maintaining a excellent world class environment to wind down and relax. The accommodation was comfortable, accessible, clean, with all the comfort features I expected. The coral beaches, the historical lighthouse, and walking tracks were challenging and rewarding. I did venture out after 2am this morning only to chat with the local wildlife at the main entrance: a beautiful tree snake. Harmlessly enjoying the garden. There were heaps of activities to do and the cost of hire wasn't overwhelming.
