Welcome to Fitzroy island, we are the official operator of the resort and island facilities, we look forward to welcoming you to our slice of paradise very soon.

Fitzroy Island is an unspoilt tropical paradise of rainforest and beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Fitzroy Island is a National Park, discover spectacular walking trails, abundant marine life, and local wildlife.

Located 45 minutes from Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, Fitzroy Island is easily reached by regular ferry transfers on the air-conditioned Fitzroy Flyer.

Fitzroy Island is ideal for families, a visit with friends or a romantic gateway. Come for a day or stay overnight at our boutique resort.

Fitzroy Island Resort

Fitzroy Island Resort is a newly developed, world class resort carefully designed to complement the spectacular natural setting of this Great Barrier Reef island while truly indulging resort guests.

Fitzroy Island Resort exudes luxury and elegance, island-style. It's stylish, modern and sophisticated with all the features you'd expect of a modern resort. Yet at Fitzroy Island Resort, it's a more natural tropical sophistication that suits the island paradise on which it was created.

Surrounded on one side by majestic rainforest and on the other by vast expanses of crystal clear ocean, the location demanded something special. And so the resort has been carved with warm timbers, natural stone, elegant water features and mood lighting combining with simple architectural lines to create a resort that integrates seamlessly within the natural environment.

The result is a magnificent yet serene oasis where day guests and longer stay visitors can relax, unwind and be indulged within the privacy of this amazing Great Barrier Reef island.

RESORT ROOMS

The resort accommodation was finished in 2010, designed and built to the highest standards.

Guests are advised that check-in time is from 2 pm and check-out is 10 am.
For guests arriving early or departing later, the resort offers bag storage, changing rooms with lockers, showers and pool towels.

Wi-Fi is available for a small fee in the Resort reception. Due to the location of the island, Wi-Fi access can be unpredictable.

Resort Studio

Great value room for couples or friends, with Queen or Twin Beds

Island Suite

Luxuriously appointed spacious one bedroom suite with separate dining and balcony.

Welcome Bay Suite

Located on the top floor, and boasting ocean views plus a large balcony these Suites are luxurious, spacious and have a separate bedroom.

Two Bedroom Suite

Consists of an Island Suite and a Resort Studio Room adjoining with a shared entrance, kitchenette and balcony.

Beach Cabin

Boasting beautiful views across Welcome Bay, the Beach Cabin offers a queen bedroom and separate twin bedroom. Be quick they book out fast!

Butterfly Bungalows

Set amongst the rainforest and moments from the beach, our Butterfly Bungalows are the perfect secluded island hideaway option for couples, families or groups of friends.

Camping on the Island

Fitzroy Island’s camp ground provides generously spaced camp sites just 20 meters from the coral beach. 250 meters away is Fitzroy Island Resort offering tantalizing refreshments or Foxy’s Bar where you can enjoy live music by local artists most weekends.

The campground includes showers, toilets and BBQ facilities, as well as picnic tables.

Scuba Diving

Fitzroy Island Resort is now offering PADI accredit Scuba Diving! 

Come and dive with green sea turtles and discover the incredible coral reefs and Sealife of Welcome Bay, Fitzroy Island.

The Fitzroy Island Sports Hub is PADI accredited and offers equipment hire for experienced divers and introductory SCUBA Diving in the training pool or from a safe beach access point only 35m from the shop. We will be soon be offering certified ocean dives, night dives, open water courses and a ‘Bubblemakers’ scuba experience for children – stay tuned!
