The Iconic Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the only Southern Tasmanian Lighthouse open for Tours... The historic 1836 lighthouse towers 114m over dramatic cliff tops and coves that form the rugged Tasmanian coastline of Cape Bruny.

Take a fully guided tour of this spectacular piece of history, towering above the rugged coastline of the Southwest tip of Bruny Island.

Climb the original wrought iron spiral staircase to the top of the tower and step out onto the balcony to take in the breathtaking views of the sweeping southern ocean to the wild Tasman Sea, South East Cape, Whale Head and the small islands dotting the coastline.

  • Tours run daily between 10am – 3:45pm 1st April to 30th September

Getting There
Travel times from the Bruny Island Sealink Ferry (Bruny Island Wharf) to Cape Bruny – 75 minutes. Adventure Bay to Cape Bruny – 45 Minutes, Alonnah to Cape Bruny – 35 minutes. Drive safely on our gravel roads.

Make your way to the tower to meet our tour guide, Allow 10 minutes to get to the tower from the car park.


Bruny Island Lighthouse

Bruny Island Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse tower in Australia, as well as having the longest (158 years) history of being continuously manned. It was first lit in March 1838 and was eventually decommissioned on 6 August 1996.
