Accommodation

Whether you are a family of 10, 14 friends, a senior executive group, a 5 couple get-away, a bridal party of up to14, or a golfing party ready to hit the greens, The Cassowary caters to you and your preferences.

Comfortably accommodating 10 guests (with provision for a further 4), cassowary has three master suites complete with built-in robe and marble bathroom, private balconies, and water features with views of the lush rainforest.

The Honeymoon Suite has an elegant four-poster teak bed, spa bath, and private outdoor rain shower.

There are three double suites, two of which have private balconies and water features. Every room in the house has a TV/DVD offering free-to-air and cable television (seven screens in total).

Property Features

The main pavilion features a fully equipped designer kitchen, dining area and lounge room while a full bathroom overlooks a water feature with a designer stand-alone bath tub. Storage and laundry is also located here. The facility is wheelchair accessible.

There is also a well-equipped gym for those who wish to stay in shape or to improve their level of fitness during the stay.

Chef Jed can provide a variety of culinary expertise with local produce and regional specialities. Offering a range of menus and food styling for all tastes and budgets. Additionally, Chef Jed provides personal catering onsite. You can hire him as your very own chef to come to the Cassowary and cook up a storm for you and your friends.

Our family - six adults and four children - spent a blissful five days soaking up the luxury and ambience of The Cassowary Retreat. Superbly designed to create a perfect and private 'good life' oasis, The Cassowary offers the chance to live movie star style away from the madding crowd yet within easy reach of Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge and the Daintree. We loved every moment of our stay and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere that's all on its own in terms of specialness.

If you're ever in the Daintree ... the Cassowary Retreat is heaven on earth and perfect for families!! Not only is it in the heart of the Daintree, it's comfortable luxury and there are so many day trips and things to do nearby that provide adventures like swimming in the refreshing Mossman River. Dear Sam. We just wanted to write and tell you about our magical stay at The Cassowary boutique accommodation in January. The Cassowary is an absolute joy to be in, set amongst tropical forest, looking out towards the coast, and elevated to catch the cooling sea breeze. We really felt nature all around us, from the burgeoning bird life, colourful butterflies and other Australian native beauties. The design and layout of the Cassowary is brilliant for groups of 4-12, allowing everyone privacy and beautiful views, as well as fun times together in the high-spec kitchen, spacious living areas and by the divine infinity pool. The facilities are superb and the team you have on tap are amazing - from the private chef to the Thai masseur. The Cassowary is well positioned to enjoy nature at its best from the Great Barrier Reef, the Port Douglas inlet to the world's oldest rain forest, the Daintree - all just a short drive away. The highlights for us as a family were snorkelling on the coral reef with sea turtles and tropical fish, viewing sharks and rays from the glass bottom boat, ziplining through the ancient trees of the Daintree Rainforest, spotting crocs from the safety of a river boat, cooling off in the many watering holes, cruising down easy river rapids on inflatables, lazing by the pool watching the kids play for hours, and feasting on local seafood in the nearby world-class restaurants. By the end of the week, we all felt deeply relaxed, refreshed, and cared for. And charged up for the year ahead. One of the best family holidays of all time, and in our view, the Cassowary represents great value for money at AUD800/night for 6 adults. As well as families, the Cassowary would be equally perfect for groups who love nature, diving, snorkelling, yoga, birdwatching, fishing, and water sports. And I know you host and organise weddings of 100+ people too. There's so much to do in the region of North Tropical Queensland, we will definitely be back again soon.
