Resort Studio Room
Great value room for couples. These Resort Studio Rooms are 32 sqm in size and have 1 Queen bed with limited views of the rainforest. Air-conditioned rooms with ceiling fan, plasma TV, en-suite marble tiled bathroom with shower, tea and coffee facilities, small desk and mini bar fridge. Use of shared guest laundry and lifts to all floors.

The Beachfront Cabins are ideal for families.  Located with direct beach access these cabins are ideal for families.  They have a Queen bedroom directly off the entry balcony and a separate small bedroom with 2x single beds at the rear of the cabin.

Butterfly Bungalow
These 3 star bungalows are named for some of the butterflies found on island – Lacewing, Ulysses and Bird wing to name a few. Located near the campgrounds, each bungalow features bedding for 2 adults and up to 3 children (13 and under), a small Webber style BBQ and BBQ utensils. Scheduled transfers are also available to take you and your luggage to the rooms on arrival and departure.

Linen is provided on arrival and room services are available for a fee. Limited additional amenties (shampoo, soap etc) available from Reception only

Things to do on fitzroy

The natural beauty of Fitzroy Island is breath taking.  Hearing the coral chime with the flow of the waves and having direct access to snorkelling from the shoreline is wonderful. There is not jet ski hire at Fitzroy Island creating a very peaceful environment. 

The resort itself has a fabulous pool, swim up pool bar, cinema and small supermarket that stocks the basics.
Please note that if you do intend on self-catering, it may be an idea to bring some food with you from the mainland.

The island is surrounded in beautiful fringing reefs which are teeming with marine life. The best snorkelling is off the rocks between Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach. Expect to see Turtles, tropical fish and many colourful corals.

Internet is available in public areas and the main building at a small cost.  Mobile phone service is available on the Island is variable and not in all locations.  

Free Activities

Rainforest walking trails -Fitzroy Island is covered with magnificent rainforest and features many walking tracks ranging from a short stroll to Nudey Beach through to a more challenging hike to the Summit. Secret Garden 1km, Lighthouse 3.6km, Summit 2.6km return, Nudey Beach Track 1.2km.

In-house Cinema - Operates daily -­1pm, 4pm, 7.30pm., the cinema screens some of your favourite movies throughout the day and evening.

Fish Feeding - Enjoy this unique experience as we feed the fish from the jetty and shore as they swim amongst your legs. Feeding times are twice daily, at the end of the Fitzroy Island Jetty -­11:30am & 4.00pm

Whale watching July to September -­ recommended viewing from the Lighthouse.

Video Games Room - Just in case the kids have had enough of swimming and exploring the island, the games room has a selection of Puzzle Boards, Board Games, Books, old and new favourites for both little and big! 

Fitzroy Island Transfers

Fitzroy island is located 29 kilometres south-east of Cairns and is only 45 minutes by ferry. All of our day trips depart from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns City.

Fitzroy Flyer
The Flyer is a large & modern catamaran which departs Cairns 3 times daily. When booking the flyer you can add extras such as snorkeling equipment and glass bottom boat tours.

Check-in on the vessel. Proceed directly down Marlin Wharf (A Finger Wharf) from the Reef Fleet Terminal and turn left at the end. The Flyer Departs half way down on your right, Berth 20.   

• Departs Cairns at 8am, 11am, 1:30pm
• Departs Fitzroy at 9:30am, 12:15pm, 5pm

The Fitzroy Flyer is ideal for resort guests who need to book the ferry one way or return with different departure dates.
