Duration: 11 hours (approx)
Product Code: THT8N
Get ready for a day of cultural discovery!
Your experienced driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation and journey north, taking in the landscape around one of Australia's most scenic coastal roads.
When you arrive at Cooya Beach, take an informative walk with a member of the Kubirri Warra clan around their traditional lands.
Learn Aboriginal hunting techniques including spear handling, then observe techniques for tracking fish, mud crabs and mussels in the mangroves. After the walk, snack on fresh homemade damper and share any seafood that was caught as you learn more about Aboriginal tools.
We then continue on to nearby Mossman Gorge; located on the outskirts of the Daintree Rainforest. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Mayi Cafe and observe the local indigenous art in the Centre's gallery. Journey into the Gorge itself for your Aboriginal guided Dreamtime Walk, starting with a traditional smoking ceremony.
On this 1.5 hour walk, your experienced Indigenous guide will share Aboriginal traditions and culture as you journey through the rainforest. See traditional hurts along private walking trails and learn about the deep relationship between the indigenous peoples and their environment.
Your guide will demonstrate how to use plants to make soaps, medicine and ochre paint, and how to identify bush food. Your guide's stories will illuminate the Aboriginal perspective on the land and Dreamtime stories. Return to the coach for the journey back to your hotel after a memorable day of cultural discovery. [Itinerary can operate in reverse due to tides at Cooya Beach.
