Cairns Aquarium turtle rehabilitation facility

By Cairns Aquarium

10 Sep 2019

June 16th, is World Sea Turtle Day, a day that recognises and celebrates these amazing, but highly threatened, marine creatures. It is also a fitting day for Cairns Aquarium to launch a new marine turtle rehabilitation facility that provides the final stage of the rehabilitation processes carried out by the dedicated volunteers at the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre (CTRC), prior to the release of the turtles back into the ocean where they were found.

Cairns Aquarium Reviews

Dave Houlahan

This is a hidden gem in the north. Beautiful displays with a huge variety of land and marine critters as you move through the different environs. It was clean, well organised and staffed by knowledgeable, friendly people. Just a tad pricey I thought going in but well worth it I thought coming out. Hands down the best aquarium I’ve been to in the world.

Matt MrMagoo Cornish

One of the best Aquariums in Australia. Rather that just focusing on the biggest and most colourful, the Cairns Aquarium provides visitors with an insight into some of the least recognised and underrated ecosystems in North Queensland. Love the River Monsters display and the freshwater turtle enclosures.
