Field of Light Sunrise Tour

Field of Light Sunrise Tour

In complete darkness you’ll be able to wander through the pathways that encompass the 50,000 spheres of light in the desert, before making your way up to the Field of Light sunrise viewing area. Sip on tea, coffee or hot chocolate as the first rays of sunlight creep across the desert sky, and then watch in awe as the sun rises in the distance behind Uluru, flooding the landscape with light.

Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro is noted for his immersive site-specific installations that employ light to evoke emotional response, often in an outdoor context and on a monumental scale. His Field of Light, inspired by a trip to Uluru over 26 years ago, is installed in a remote desert area within sight of majestic Uluru. It is his largest installation to date, with Munro and his team installing more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted glass spheres. It is truly a magical sight to behold.

AAT Kings were very professional. You can see they’ve been doing this well for years. Our guide for sunrise was Ken, he was extremely knowledgeable, very helpful & even funny at times. Driver Dave was also very good. At first you thought it was a lot of money to take you to see the sunrise behind you while photographing Uluru. Very good. But then they take you to Walpa Gorge at the Olga’s - this was the highlight for us. On the sunset tour surprise surprise Ken appears again. With the exception of the cultural centre which was a time filler (very ordinary), the rest was great. And the wine & nibbles at the sunset viewing area was well done.

Great service and seamless arrangements. During our long weekend at Uluru we participated in the Field of Lights dinner and the Uluru sunset BBQ dinner through AAT Kings. They were helpful during planning and once we arrived, the staff were friendly, everything ran like clockwork and both activities were excellent. The Field of Lights dinner is a must do! Star gazing during both dinners was fantastic and highly informative - you won’t believe the stars you can see in the desert!
