Experience the thrill of rafting on the legendary Barron Gorge with the Raging Thunder Barron River half day adventure. Just a short drive from Cairns, this 2-hour excursion is suitable for those aged 12 and up. Transportation from Cairns and the Northern Beaches is provided, or you can opt to drive yourself if you have your own vehicle. Experience the rainforest while navigating the turbulent waters of the Barron River.

Pick-up and Departure times
The Barron River is only 20 minutes from Cairns & Northern Beaches.
- Pick up Cairns : 2pm daily
- Return Cairns : 5:45pm
Self Drive Option
For a self-drive, meet the group at the Lake Placid Car Park at 2:30pm.

Pick-ups around Cairns and Northern Beaches. Drive to Lake Placid and rendezvous with other (self-drive) rafters.
14.30 - 14.45
Travel further into the Barron River Gorge to our start point and get fitted with rafting gear.
14.45 - 17.00
Meet your River Guide who will give you a safety briefing and paddling instructions before it?s time to hit the water!
15.00 - 17.00
Raft down the Barron River conquering awesome grade 2 & 3 rapids!
17.00 - 17.30
Arrive at the take-out point and change into dry clothes before heading over to the Lake Placid Tourist Park for some tea and coffee, view photos of your trip and compare river stories.
17.30 - 18.00
Transfer you back to your accommodation.
