Outback Tasting Tour From Cairns & Northern Beaches

the Brett's Outback Tasting Adventures tour takes guests from Cairns and the Northern Beaches to the Atherton Tablelands for a full-day food and drink experience. This adults-only tour runs from Wednesday to Saturday and includes breakfast, morning tea, gourmet lunch, afternoon tea, and tastings at each stop. Along the way, guests visit Lake Barrine in Crater Lakes National Park, Shaylee Strawberry Farm, Australian Platypus Park, Gallo Dairyland in Atherton, The Humpy Nut World, Mount Uncle Distillery, and Jaques Family Coffee Plantation. The day combines local produce, cellar door tastings, wildlife viewing, and time to explore the landscapes and farming areas of Far North Queensland.

Itinerary

Lake Barrine National Park & Heritage Tea House
The day begins with a drive from Cairns along the Gillies Highway to the Atherton Tablelands. At Lake Barrine, guests visit a crater lake formed by volcanic activity around 10,000 years ago and surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest. Breakfast is served at the lakeside heritage tea house, where guests enjoy a meal made with local produce along with a Lake Barrine coffee or local tea.

Shaylee Strawberry Farm
The next stop is Shaylee Strawberry Farm for morning tea. Guests enjoy a farm-style tasting experience that includes strawberry wine, jam, and gelato. Visitors travelling between June and October may also have the chance to pick strawberries straight from the vine.

Australian Platypus Park
At Australian Platypus Park, guests visit a spring-fed pond where platypus live in a natural setting surrounded by tropical vegetation. There is time to walk around and look for platypus before sitting down to a gourmet lunch. Lunch includes handcrafted smoked products paired with Australian native herbs and spices.

Gallo Dairyland, Atherton
The tour continues to Gallo Dairyland near Atherton, a working dairy farm with a cheese factory and chocolate production on site. Guests sample cheeses and Swiss-style filled chocolates while taking in the farm setting. There is also time to see the animals before the next stop.

The Humpy Nut World
At The Humpy Nut World, guests can taste seasonal tropical fruits along with hot local peanuts and macadamia nuts. This stop also gives guests time to look around the store and shop for produce and products from the Atherton Tablelands.

Mount Uncle Distillery
At Mount Uncle Distillery, guests sample a range of liqueurs and spirits produced at North Queensland’s first distillery. Set among coffee and banana plantations, this stop also includes time to walk through the gardens and enjoy the property surroundings.

Jaques Family Coffee Plantation
The final stop is Jaques Family Coffee Plantation, a third-generation coffee farm with 85,000 Arabica coffee trees. Guests learn about the coffee production process and enjoy a tasting platter with coffees, tea made from coffee bean husks, lemonade scones, local jam, Mungalli cream, and coffee liqueurs. The property also has a large solar system that supports much of the farm and tourism operation.
