Our trip to the Mudjimba Island reefs will give you the much needed ocean time you have been seeking, right in our own backyard! Snorkelers will have an in-water snorkel guide to both assist you with your snorkeling skills, and to show you some of the reef’s residents.

This sheltered reef is perfect for training dives, snorkelers and even the most experienced divers will enjoy the colours this site has to offer. A lovely wall ranging from 16 meters up to 5 meters homes crayfish, wobbygong sharks, loads of nudibranch, cowries shells and even the occasional turtle, along with all the tropical reef fish and corals you would expect from Mooloolaba reefs.

Your day at a glance:

On departure to the Mudjimba Island, our trained crew will provide a thorough briefing for all our divers about the sites we will visit and will answer any questions you may have about it. Once the boat exits the calm waters of the Mooloolaba River system, it is around a 15 minute ride to the site. The vessel will be moored and our crew will help you set up to get in the water.

You will have about 2.5 hours at the site to get the ocean time in that you’ve been craving!

Every snorkeling experience is different depending on the conditions that day and time.

Between snorkels, you may choose to get back on the boat for a surface interval where you are provided snacks and water. Feel free to bring along your own snacks if you have allergies or would like more substantial food.

The snorkelers will then return to the shop, where we will have refreshments and hot wedges or chips ready for you while we debrief. While this is happening we will unload the vessel and if you have brought your own gear, we will wash it for you if you so wish.

Trip confirmations:
As with all our dives, your snorkeling trip confirmation will depend on the sea conditions and weather. We will monitor this closely and if the weather or sea conditions are unsuitable, we will let you know as soon as we can. We will send out an email and text message the day before your trip around 3:30 pm to inform you of the status of the trip and its departure time.

Seasickness and equalization:
If you find yourself dealing with seasickness, our crew will look after you and ensure you are comfortable and safe. However, as this is not something in our control we will not issue any rebookings or refunds for being seasick and not snorkeling. We suggest you consider seasickness tablets to minimize the risk of seasickness affecting your trip.

Snorkeling Waiver: Each diver must complete a Sunreef Snorkeler Waiver before snorkeling with us. This will also be sent out to you with your booking confirmation. Please note that if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, are taking prescription medication, are suffering from any injury or illness, or if you are trying to become or could be pregnant you may be unable to dive with Sunreef.

Parking: The Wharf complex has all day parking available, however please keep in mind especially if you are on an 11:30 am or later trip that parking can sometimes get very busy.
