Great News! The rafts are returnng to the Barron River by late June or early July 2024.

Barron River Rafting experiences have been on hold since December 2023 while the hydro power station has scheduled maintenance on the turbines. This critical work is necessary to ensure the region's power supply but means that Barron Rafting operations are paused while the work is in progress.

The Next scheduled maintenance period will be from September 2nd to November 22nd, 2024.

Visitors can catch the Shuttle Bus service between the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and Rainforestation Nature Park.

The travel time between the Butterfly Sanctuary and Rainforestation is less than 10 minutes, covering approximately 5 km. Walking isn’t advised, so the shuttle is a great option. It's designed to fit perfectly with Rainforestation activities. For example, the 1145 am shuttle from Kuranda arrives just in time for the 1200 pm activities like the Army Duck tour or Dance Performance.

Hartley's Crocodile Adventures will celebrate its 90th year of operations this year, 2024. 

To commemorate this amazing achievement in tourism, construction will commence on a new attraction this month incorporating a wide array of crocodile themed information, history and other very interesting stories from the remarkable history of this landmark Tropical North Queensland Attraction. 

Charlie the Crocodile was the first animal at Hartley's Creek Tropical Zoo. He lived there from 1935 until his death in 2000. Hartley's Creek Zoo was the predecessor of Hartley's Crocodile Adventures near Palm Cove in North Queensland. The business began in 1934 as a teahouse with the original owner entertaining the tourists with Australia's first crocodile show.

Visitors planning to experience the breathtaking views from the Kuranda Scenic Railway will need to adjust their schedules. The iconic railway will be temporarily closed from May 13th to May 17th, 2024, to allow for scheduled track maintenance. This brief pause in operations is essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of the service, promising even smoother journeys through the stunning rainforest landscapes in the future. 

The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will be temporarily closed for scheduled maintenance.

Maintenance Dates: May 13 - May 19, 2024 (inclusive).

The Kuranda Scenic Railway is also closed from Monday 13 May - Friday 17 May 2024.

AquaQuest will be taking a short break from May 9 to May 17, 2024.

The Daintree Ecolodge will reopen on March 15 after a rapid two-month renovation. The resort introduces new guest experiences like beekeeping and bush tucker courses to revive tourism and job opportunities in the region. The resort sustained flood damage in 2023. These activities aim to support the local economy still recovering from cyclone Jasper and the flooding in late 2023.
